we aint afraid of
no jokes
On set, Quavo and George gave us PILES and piles of alternate jokes and improvisation. When there’s so many options, it’s easy for a 30-second spot to get lost in the woods. But we narrowed the options down to the best of the best options for the agency and client.
The final result was a live action / gameplay hybrid ad that caught audience attention and hit the client’s goals.
ACTIVISION
CRASH BANDICOOT
BROADCAST SPOTS FEAT. QUAVO
We were psyched to find out that Activision wasn’t just releasing a new Crash Bandicoot video game, but launching a reboot of the 90s ad campaign which featured a live action version of everyone’s favorite marsupial. Battery Agency brought in Hip Hop artist Quavo to lead the campaign with comedy darling George Basil (Crashing, Werewolves Within) to play our orange hero.
In the end, this campaign earned broad national attention, everywhere from CNN to Hypebeast to Billboard. But how did we get there? Let’s dig in…
But wait, there’s more!
GETTING THE BAND(ICOOT)
BACK TOGETHER
If there were a lot of options on the Quavo spot, that was nothing compared to the story options for the second spot: PARTY CRASHER.
THE SETUP
For this 30-second spot, we needed to establish a gender reveal party, which is soon crashed by our hero. From there, the creative team gave us a ton of story options, which included a featured canine extra, a VFX gag, and a big reveal. Again, we streamlined all of the optoins for agency and client to make the choices straightforward and smooth.
